All that’s missing is…

 

 

Everything, really.

However, I do at least have a place for the baby to sleep and a place to put their cute little clothes if the baby were to come tomorrow. Even though, if the baby came tomorrow, it would spend a while living at the hospital. BUT at least I would know there was a place waiting for them at home.

I guess I still need a mattress, sheets, bedding, changing pad and covers, blankets, curtains, a chair for the countless hours of nursing and rocking I will need to do, some more clothes (might have to wait until I know what color to buy), a ceiling fan, maybe an area rug, a lamp, some decorations for the wall….etc.

We have had the crib and dresser since the beginning of January when I convinced Chris that it was time to nest. I had been putting it off because the “nursery” was serving as his P90X space, but since he didn’t seem to be using it, I thought it was time to set-up for baby.

The boxes sat in the room for a long time…making a very convenient scratching post for the cat…making a lot of little cardboard pieces for Mommy to pick up. Or Mommy’s Dyson.

I finally convinced Chris that it was time to set-up the furniture a few weeks ago. But, much to our chagrin, when we opened the box for the crib, we discovered that there were no assembly instructions. We thought perhaps that we would be able to find some online, but I don’t know if you know this, no one actually makes these cribs. The companies don’t really exist under the name listed on the box. It was a fruitless search, which wasn’t so bad because the crib was also damaged, which meant calling Babies R Us to put another one a hold until we could borrow a truck from our accommodating friends…again. Unfortunately, it was also a very busy month for Chris.

But for Valentine’s Day, his gift was that he wasn’t going to do any work at home—we were going to set-up the crib!! It really was the best gift! We waited until yesterday to set-up the dresser because that was a lot more steps.

So….I have a nursery. Kind of.

Next step? Grow a healthy baby to put in the nursery.
