Butter

My plan after church was to bake my Amish Friendship bread that I have been mushing in a bag for ten days (sounds gross, looks gross, but it will taste great). However, I realized that I needed two large loaf pans--I only have one smaller one. However, a friend (the same friend that gave me dough to mush in a bag) said I could borrow her pans. Then I realized that I didn't have the pudding that I would need to mix into the mush. So I decided to scratch that idea and do it tomorrow after a trip to the store.

The next logical thing to do was to make the cookies that I have been promising Chris for the past week. You see, I have a large quantity of plain M&Ms from a project involving only the wrappers, not the candy. Chris and I have done a pretty good job at eating the candy, but I thought it best to use them in some cookies instead.

But I realized that I didn't have butter. Chris was a little bummed out. Especially since this isn't the first time that I have gone to bake something and realized that I didn't have a necessary item.

What do you do to keep track of your inventory?

Because I'm pretty sure Chris might divorce me if I keep making promises that I can't keep.

When I use the last of something, I write it down on my list so I remember that I need it. Then when I go to the store, I have my list all ready for me.

I keep my phone close to the kitchen and when I realize that I'm out/low of something I put it on my phone right then so I don't forget later. I hardly ever go anywhere without my phone so I always have my list. Some of my friends have lists of everything that they have in their pantry and fridge and go through the whole list before going to the store so they don't forget anything. I still manage to forget things though. Good luck :)

Hi Jennny, Your skirt is so cute! Good job on it! As far as inventory,..I tried a list once but I never keep it up so I usually end up like you running out of things when I promised something fun and special. I need to do better at that too! I know the feeling when you just need butter ,..and its the Sabbath day..ahhhhh! Hopefully you can make those cookies soon! :) Loved your lesson on Sunday by the way! I hope they ask you again!

That happens to me all the time. I often stock up on items, and neglect to notice that they've run out, until I need it.

My plan is that when I start to get low I buy a bunch or when its on sale buy a bunch. Of course we ran out of toothpaste last week which came as a total surprise to me so I may not be the best person to give advice. I was sure we had more somewhere. I went to the store Sat night and picked some up only to find it somehow didn't make it in the house. I paid for it, but lost it somewhere between the store and the house. So right now we are using a trial size tube that we keep in the travel bag.

Yeah, I'm not the person to be giving advice.

Lists. I'm a huge list person. If I see something is nearing it's end or has run out, I write it down, even if I don't think I'll use it again for a while (like flour or sugar...I don't do a whole lot of baking).
